This Sunday on February 14th, 2010 is Valentine’s Day as well as the Chinese New Year and its the year of the tiger! Come to our booth this weekend to see our Chinese New Year’s goodies usually eaten for the celebration. The foods symbolize good luck in happiness, prosperity, and longevitiy.
The main item is “Bánh Tét” which is a rice cake filled with mung bean or banana wrapped in banana leaves. These cakes are cooked in boiling water for at least 5 hours. These cakes are very special to our culture and especially to my huge family as my mom is the only one who can make these cakes.
Happy Valentine’s and Chúc Mừng Năm Mới!
